Pictures Don’t Really Say It All
In my earlier posts, I have mentioned that the family just had a recent trip to Cebu City for some very important medical appointments. I booked us a Deluxe Room in a classy budget hotel at the heart of uptown Cebu (you can read about that hotel here). The whole family was very excited to travel, although it was not our first time to do so. We were all excited to check out the hotel where we will be billeted.
When we got to the room, I was disappointed at the fact that the Deluxe room was very small with two single beds with mattresses that are not that soft and comfy. Since it was a new hotel, the mattress I guess where newly purchased as they are still very stiff and a bit hard. I was hoping that the mattresses in the Deluxe room were like the memory foam mattress I’ve seen online and some being used in the posh hotels in the metropolis. I was really dissatisfied and I was able to compare with the other hotel where we stayed a few months ago. We were also in a Deluxe room and yet, it was a far cry from where we stayed, the beds were queen-size and a single one. The mattresses were super soft, comfortable and can really give you a good night rest. In short we had luxurious mattresses, more like sleeping in those amazing memory foam mattress.
Our two-day stay at the, yes, classy, budget hotel, unfortunately did not meet our family’s expectation. The small beds and the hard mattresses gave us sleepless nights. This just goes to show that not all pictures say it all. The hotel’s website photos were really nice and I did not hesitate to book our room immediately. I really thought they had memory foam mattress or the Latex mattress but to my dismay, it was otherwise.
Anyway, despite that glitch, our appointments went well, and still it was our haven in Cebu even for two short days. The hotel was still good aesthetically and service was okay. Would I book there again? I will have to try the other ones first before I can say I will again. My little boys were all relieved to be home and enjoy our very own soft mattress, even though they’re not the expensive memory foam mattress, we were able to sleep soundly.

Yes, it is so true… In any cases, pictures can never say it all, more especially in todays technology. They can enhance it to look more beautiful from the pictures.

Most hotels pictures I think, with the exception of the really top end ones are really misleading I find. The worst are the city center “luxury” ones. They have a picture of their largest room and say that the rooms are spacious and luxury but then when you get there they are all little chicken coops!

Some things can really look nice in pictures. I credit that to great photographers who know how to get the best angles. I’ve had that same disappointing experience too. I guess it pays to read reviews if there are available ones to get an idea of what the room is really like.
