Today, we celebrate Bogs’ 7th birthday and we had our dinner together with Tita Bambi and Kevin. My son wanted a simple dinner and guess what he wanted to have? Well, his favourites, spaghetti, fried chicken and cake! So since it was very easy to make, I made him his favourites and boy was he so happy and could not wait to blow the candles on his cake.
So by 8 pm we all went down and had dinner together. It was nice to eat simple meals with the family and to celebrate Bogs’ birthday without ever having to go broke. In the past, we had always prepared something for Kuya Bogs’ birthday. We would cook some food for a small party in his nursery school, and then have another celebration at home. So that meant a few hundred dollars to spend. We do not mind actually since Bogs is happy, but now that we have to be practical and save, a birthday party is no longer necessary, though I would love to give him one… maybe in the next few years… when we have enough to spend.
So anyway, we all shared the food in the table, ate the cake and had some conversations and since it was a school day the following day, we went back to our suite very full and happy with our birthday dinner. Here’s a snap of Kuya Bogs blowing the candles on the cake!
Happy 7th Birthday Kuya Bogs! Daddy, Mommy and Job love you very much!
The weekend of August 23 to 25, 2013 was our first family camping. Together with Kevin and Tita Bambi, we all headed to the Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
We were supposed to leave the city by 11 am but we set out at past 1 pm because packing the car took really some time. We did not bring a lot because the trailer which was reserved a couple of months ago was fully furnished. All we needed was food and stuff for barbecue. But because Kevin wanted that we are all comfortable during our camping, he brought lanterns, bug zappers, and other stuff which we actually did not need at all, which eventually took a lot of space in the car. So anyway, as soon as we arrived at the camp site, we checked in and paid the remaining balance. After that, we were led to our trailer and we started setting up. We were all wows at how comfy and nice the trailer was.
Tita Bambi and I started prepping for our first camp dinner and used the kitchen stove and most of the utensils there. We had our dinner at the patio, it was really nice and the food was good. After dinner, we went down to our camp fire and started roasting marshmallows. The little boys were excited to roast their marshmallows and got some sticky and gooey mallows in their faces, fingers and shirts!
Since it was already getting late, I tucked the little boys in bed… the couches can be turned into beds and so with just a few minutes, they were fast asleep. As for the adults, we continued chatting over the camp fire until it was all gone. It was also getting cold, so we bid adieu to our first day of camp. Fun day it was! 🙂
My classmate in college who now lives here in the same city where we are have planned weeks ago of having a barbecue slash get-together at the Coronation Park. It is one park where kids and families can have picnics and there’s a splash pad there where kids can have fun playing with water. But because the weather has definitely gone cooler this week, we have decided to postpone our barbecue.
It is supposed to be this Sunday when I am on day off, but because the highest temperature is just 22 degrees, it would not be a very good idea because the water will be cold at the splash pad and it’s going to be a little chilly as the park is just beside Lake Ontario. So my classmate suggested that we just go to Niagara or to Marineland, but because we don’t have a car, it would be difficult for us. So I guess, barbecue will have to be done in the next or remaining weeks of Summer. Hopefully, we can visit the Coronation Park and let the kids enjoy the splash pad there.
