Save More with TV and Internet Packages

Television and the Internet have become norms in our society now. The advent of technology has made our daily living more convenient and getting in touch with the world has never been this easy and fast. With new innovations and technological advancements being discovered everyday, entertainment at home is even more pleasurable and exciting, and connecting to loved ones abroad is just at the tap or touch of a button.

Because of these innovations, many digital TV service providers have come up with better, faster and reliable packages. These packages or bundles include TV or cable, a home phone and internet connection, even a mobile phone, all in one. Just like the Virgin Media TV packages that offer all four, TV, mobile phone, internet and fixed phone. Packages like this from digital TV service providers create avenues for families to save more. Because everything is one bill and comes in a package, families get to save from extra incurs. The different packages give families the option to choose which is suitable for their budget. The Virgin Media TV packages offer six month half price or six months free. With savings for six months, families can use the extra money for some other important stuff.

Based on my experience, getting a bundle or package has greatly helped us saved. When I got our TV, home phone and internet bundle last year, we were given six months discount on the package, so I paid only about one-half of the total package amount (about $60 per month). Then the company offered unlimited internet still at a reasonable price, so I took advantage of it. Before getting the unlimited internet and after the six months discounted period, I started paying the full package amount, but because we regularly use the internet, watch videos and all, we incurred more than our limit and that meant extra pay, so when the unlimited internet was offered, I saved a lot! The service given to us is also very efficient and for a year now, we haven’t had any problems with our connection, TV viewing and when we had some minor interruptions, we can always give them a call.

Times now have changed, every single penny counts and families are finding more and more ways to save even while keeping themselves entertained. But thanks to companies who are willing to adapt to these changes, we now all have better ways to save.

Safe Cycle Shelters

Hubby does not want to lose his bike, even though it is not the most expensive one, but still he has saved some of his hard-earned money just to be able to buy one for himself. He would not want that even a non-expensive bike be stolen like his co-worker who once owned a bicycle worth $2000 only to be stolen at the train station.

The story: hubby’s co-worker always rides his bike to the train and bus station. The buses here have bike racks and can carry only two bikes at a time. One night on his way to work, the bus that he takes had a packed bike rack already so he decided to leave his bike at the bike shelters near the bus station. So he took the bus off to work but when he came back in the morning, his two-grand bicycle was already gone. The chain lock was still attached to the station’s bike rack but it was already broken. He was very confident that nothing would happen because it was in the town’s bus and train station (along with other bikes). He asked the police’s help but they could not trace his expensive bike.

This is not what hubby would want to happen to his bike. It is parked at the ground floor of our apartment building, exposed to the elements of nature, that is rain, snow, frost, dust, wind, heat of the sun, and a very good sight for people with bad intentions. He has it padlocked but he is still not very sure and confident that it will still be there one day.

Hubby’s bike is in the middle, exposed to the elements of nature.

We are now concerned of the safety of our possession, our investment of some sort. We need to have safe cycle shelters. The ground floor of our apartment building is considered a public place as residents and visitors go day in and day out. Train and bus stations with bike racks are also public places where we feel confident of leaving our bikes and cars there. But of course it is also our responsibility to keep our bikes safe in these public places. When we are placing them there, we are also taking the risk of our bikes getting stolen. But with bike shelters like these below, we would feel a little more secure that our bikes would still be there.

A cycle compound for sure will keep bikes safe.

A cycle shelter like this would be perfect for the apartment building.

We just hope that our building management will do something about making sure our bikes are safe, even protected from nature and human intervention. It will take time too to employ security measures at the public places but it would really be a great help for all bike users, knowing that they will still find their bikes after parking them there. Even if it meant a little extra pay, it will go a long way, for us to be able to use our bikes for years to come.

WOWButter Review and Giveaway

My little boys love peanut butter and I am just thankful that they don’t have allergies to any nuts or food ingredient. But because we now live in a country where many kids (and adults too) have allergies to nuts and other food ingredients, I have learned to read food labels well and to be compassionate to other moms who have to deal with such allergies.

Since my son’s school has a nut-free policy, I make sure that all the food that I pack in his lunchbox are peanut-free. I have read a lot of news about young children who have gone into shock because they have eaten something with peanut, or even smelling or just getting in contact with foods that are not nut-free, others have unfortunately died and many others are bringing their epipens with them in case they get in contact with such kind. I feel the pain and the worry of the moms out there who have to deal with this kind of, I don’t even know how to call it, so for me, even with a picky eater, I still make sure that my son’s lunches are nut-free. It is quite hard for me too because I have to think of ways on how I can have at least a balanced meal on his lunches and that even if he wants to have PB&J sandwiches or bread and Nutella, he just can’t have (yet). He will have to wait till he gets home.

But when I found out about WOWButter, a peanut-butter replacement, I knew I had found the solution to his “cravings.” Much to my delight, WOWButter sent me two jars of the toasted soy spread and boy, was I so glad to send a WOWButter sandwich for my son the next day. My little boy also loved it a lot.

Okay, so what is WOWButter? It is a peanut-free, tree nut free, gluten free, egg and dairy free soy spread produced in a dedicated facility that manufactures only soy products. It is a complete protein source as it has nine (9) amino acids compared to peanut butter. Soy, which is the main ingredient of WOWButter is beneficial to us since it helps fight heart disease, osteoporosis, cancer and may help to reduce the symptoms of menopause. Soy is rich in calcium, iron, zinc, phosphorus, magnesium, B-vitamins, omega 3 fatty acids and fibre. Essentially, WOWButter is a healthy alternative to peanut butter.

My son was so eager to try WOWButter.

I opened up one jar (due to insistent demand by the school boy as he was already hungry that time), I immediately noticed that the spread’s color resembled that of peanut butter, it was easy to spread as well and does not clump up on the butter knife or on the bread. It tastes, feels and looks like peanut butter but it is NOT, and yes, I had to lick the spread that was left on the butter knife, and it was good! 🙂

I even caught my son grabbing the opened jar and ate a spoonful of the WOWButter!

So I made his lunch the following day and had a WOWButter sandwich along with his other food.

What’s nice about WOWButter is that school lunch stickers are included in the jar. There are 16 small lunch stickers that can be placed in lunchboxes or sandwich bags so that teachers (or other kids) would know that my son’s sandwich is totally peanut-free and safe for those kids with peanut-allergies (or dairy, egg and gluten free). So I peeled off one sticker and placed it on my son’s lunchbox and sent a note to his teacher in his Agenda.

So while my school boy was in class, my little one and I prepared some after-school snack for his big brother. We made a creepy-crawly banana, WOWButter and pretzel snack! (I got this idea from and I was so enthralled at the cuteness of this snack, it was actually made of peanut butter, so I replaced the peanut butter from that blog with WOWButter).

The little boy was so eager to eat it, he just wasn’t able to wait for his brother to come home and nibbled on the chocolate chip eyes and the “caterpillar’s tail!”

I am still exploring the possibilities of using WOWButter in cooking, though I have already read some reviews using it in baking, but to add it up to a dish would probably be my next kitchen experiment. As for me, I am a happy mum because I am able to send a good amount of protein for my son’s physical and mental growth and development. Even though he is still a picky eater, at least I am assured that he gets essential vitamins daily.

What I like most about WOWButter is that I can send it in my son’s lunchbox anytime he (or I) wants without feeling guilty that I might “hurt” another child because I have sent a cookie or PB&J sandwich and that I would feel responsible in case something happens to that child. I like the idea that I am able to show compassion to other parents. It’s satisfying the emotions or the soul (and the body at the same time). Aside from being healthy and nutritious, I can help spread the word that there is an alternative to peanut butter and that parents won’t have to worry about what to pack for lunch or that their kids are safe.

Having said that, WOWButter is kind enough to give away a case (6 jars x 1.1 lbs/jar) of their tasty, healthy and nutritious peanut butter replacement to one lucky reader.
